However, what is generally unknown is that Federer also used the HPS 6.0 paintjob over a 90 square inch frame with 5 cross strings and short pallet.
Federer was still testing out racquets, trying to find the right frame, and used this version for a brief period of time in 2003. Therefore, this frame is very unique and extremely hard to find since Federer only used this version for a very short amount of time. What is less known, however, is that Federer tinkered with various forms of a 90 square inch frame. Specifically, Federer used the following types of 90 square inch racquets.
1 4 Cross Strings + Short Pallet. Most know Federers custom 90 to have 4 cross strings along the PWS bar at 3 and 9 oclock on the racquet face. This frame also had a short pallet and longer neck/shaft below the yoke. Federer used this version of the racquet with the following paintjobs: Hyper Prostaff (HPS) 6.0 Tour 95, Prostaff (PS) Tour 90, N6.1 90, K6.1 90, BLX 6.1 90, and BLX 6.1 PS 90.
