Only the racquet itself is for sale. This is NOT a retail Hyper Prostaff 6.0 95 or any other retail racquet. This frame is a rare, Wilson Pro Room, custom pro stock. He 90 square inch mold is custom. The grip/pallet underneath the leather is custom.

This is the fabled, "unicorn, " HPS 6.0 90 pro stock racquet that Roger Federer used early in his professional career. Hyper Prostaff 6.0 Paintjob. Discerning racquet collectors know that Federer used a 90 square inch frame with the HPS 6.0 paintjob. Note, Federer also used the PS 6.0 85 with the HPS 6.0 paintjob on it in the first half of 2002. Sometime in mid-2002, Federer switched to using a 90 square inch frame with the same HPS 6.0 paintjob.

Most photos of Federers HPS 6.0 paintjob frame show a 90 square inch racquet with 4 cross strings and short pallet. However, what is generally unknown is that Federer also used the HPS 6.0 paintjob over a 90 square inch frame with 5 cross strings and short pallet. Federer was still testing out racquets, trying to find the right frame, and used this version for a brief period of time in 2003.

A Brief History of Various Versions of Federers 90 Square Inch Frame. Most Federer fans and racquet aficionados know that Federer, after starting his professional career with the venerable 85 square inch Wilson 6.0 85 Prostaff Original, eventually made a change to a 90 square inch racquet.

What is less known, however, is that Federer tinkered with various forms of a 90 square inch frame. Specifically, Federer used the following types of 90 square inch racquets. 1 4 Cross Strings + Short Pallet.

Most know Federers custom 90 to have 4 cross strings along the PWS bar at 3 and 9 oclock on the racquet face. This frame also had a short pallet and longer neck/shaft below the yoke.

Federer used this version of the racquet with the following paintjobs: Hyper Prostaff (HPS) 6.0 Tour 95, Prostaff (PS) Tour 90, N6.1 90, K6.1 90, BLX 6.1 90, and BLX 6.1 PS 90. As such, this version of the 90 square inch frame is the most photographed version that can be found. 2 5 Cross Strings + Long Pallet. A lesser known 90 square inch version used by Federer is a racquet that featured 5 cross strings and a long pallet.

For a very brief period of time in the Spring of 2003, Federer used a 90 square inch racquet with 5 cross strings at the PWS bar. This racquet also had a long pallet with less of the shaft exposed below the yoke. 3 5 Cross Strings + Short Pallet. Even lesser known, and thus, much more rare, is a very unique 90 square inch frame used by Federer with 5 cross strings and a short pallet.
