New, plastic on handle, Wilson BLX2 Steam 105S (Spin) 16X15 tennis racket in a midplus 105 square inch head in 4 1/4 (Euro 2). The Steam is used by Kei Nishikori and Petra Kivotova on the tour. The BLX2 Steam 105S weighs 10.2 ounces unstrung and is 27.5 inches long. This BLX2 Steam 105S utilizes Wilson's BLX, Amplifeel360 grip, Parallel Drilling, Double Holes grommet. BLX technology incorporates fibers of basalt, a natural volcanic rock, longitudinally into the Karophite Black. According to Wilson, the result is a significant reduction in vibrations in the racquet. The original Amplifeel grip technology placed basalt planks in a foam handle to dampen unwanted vibrations. Amplifeel 360 grip technology makes the entire racquet handle out of basalt. Basalt is stronger than foam, so less is needed for the same level of strength and allows a hollow handle construction. The racquet is both stronger and stiffer (Wilson estimates a 15% increase in strength in the lower 1/3 of the frame). A stiffer frame bends less on impact, transferring more energy to the ball. A hollow handle is lighter, which allows stiffer material to be placed in other areas of the racquet for structural reinforcement. I have yet to find a Wilson racket that actually has parallel drilled grommets.

Wilson did appear to angle the grommets at the 2/5/8/10 points of the head a little more in line with the other grommets but I think Wilson engineers have an odd definition of the word parallel. At any rate, Wilson claims that parallel drilling provides a consistent, more forgiving stringbed response while dramatically increasing the sweetspot. This racket does have Double Holes grommet technology. Wilson Double Hole grommets are larger than traditional grommets. This allows for 26 degrees of string movement vs.

22 degrees for conventional grommets. Extra movement in the grommet hole allows for greater trampoline effect, adding power, and increasing ball pocketing on impact with increased shock absorption and comfort. Recommended string tension is 54 to 64 lbs on this 16X15 string pattern. With a stiffness of 67, a variable beam width of 24.5/25.5/25mm, and a midplus head size of 105; I would recommend this racket for players with Medium+ swing speeds who want to swing aggressively and hit a lot of spin with a lot of power.

We carry over 100 different strings and a wide variety of colors. The Columbian Tennis Shop business model is to stock hard to find rackets for customers who do not want to change rackets. It costs a little more to store them but we think we provide a needed service to those players.
